Mount RushmoreMr. Newton is the technology coordinator at Weaverville Elementary School.  Over the last 5 years he has taught 4th-8th grade students how to use technology to support and strengthen their academic skills.  As a classroom teacher he regularly integrates technology throughout all curricular areas as a means of preparing students for future educational endeavors, and “Life”.  Mr. Newton continues to develop and maintain the Weaverville Elementary School website for all students, staff, and parents. 

During the summer of 2002 Mr. Newton took his family accross the United States, and developed a virtual tour of his trip.  The actual virtual tour web is no longer beign maintained, but many of his tour stops can be viewed on the Virtual Tours page of the WES website.

Mr. Newton also maintains a small taxidermy business .  Many virtual demonstrations are in the works and will eventually be posted on his personal web site for students to view and respond to.  Mr. Newton’s Taxidermy Website

  • Graduated from Buena Highschool in 1978 – Ventura California
  • Graduated from Ventura College in 1980
  • Got married in 1981
  • Maintained a professional Taxidermy business from 1981-1991
  • Went back to college in the fall of 1991 and graduated from Simpson University with a Multiple Subject teaching credential in 1995 – Redding, CA
  • Taught night classes for Shasta College -1991,1992
  • First taught elementary school in Lewiston, CA right out of college.
  • Joined Weaverville Elementary in the Fall of 1996 and has taught 1st grade (two years), 2nd grade (one year), and 6th grade((four years).
  • Completed course work at the Institute of Computer Technology and graduated as a master teacher for Intel in 2000.
  • Graduated from Cal Poly Tech State University with a certificate in Instructional Technology – (Online classes) -2004
  • Has taught instructional technology (computer classes) for Weaverville Elementary School since 2002
